Bell Media is looking for a technical operator/producer

to provide casual, freelance support for our radio stations, CFAX 1070 and 107.3 VIRGIN RADIO FM in Victoria, BC. This is an ideal entry-level role for a new, or soon to be new, graduate of a broadcasting or communications program. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless production of shows up to and including assisting show producers, guest preparation and on-air voicing as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production and operating duties for radio programming mainly weekdays 11 AM – 3 PM.
  • On-air voice when called upon to participate with the talk show host.
  • Assist in guest preparation as required.
  • Assist show producer as required.
  • Screen callers.
  • Update website with upcoming guests as required.
  • Share and engage on air topics through social media.
  • Upload shows for Podcast.
  • Keep show music beds and production pieces fresh and relevant.
  • Support on air requirements of the host as required.
  • Other assigned duties which can include station in-person/on-air at promotions/remotes, voicing commercials, on air cut-ins, weekend remote operating.
Critical Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in radio broadcasting or equivalent plus two years related experience.
  • Knowledge and interest in local, domestic and international news and current affairs with ability to clearly articulate ideas.
  • Energetic, positive, hard-working and self-motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort with computer skills working and well-developed technical know-how.
  • Creative skills to enhance the imaging of the show.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to motivate and guide/coach others.

This role is based out of: 1420 Broad Street in Victoria, British Columbia.

Work Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)
