Job summary

City of Yorkton is seeking an Operator A1, A, B, or labourer to join the Public Works team in Yorkton. The role involves constructing and maintaining streets, lanes and intersections while operating heavy machinery as needed.

It requires a Grade 12 or GED and a valid Class 3A license, with a preference for WHMIS/SCOT certifications and security clearance. The successful candidate will work full time, be paid hourly, and demonstrate independent work habits along with strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Fireman\'s boiler certificate and competency on four or more pieces of heavy equipment.
• Grade 12 or GED equivalency.
• Clean RCMP security clearance and drivers abstract.
• Class 3A Drivers License preferred.
• Concrete and paving experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Current SCOT/ WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, confined space entry, First-Aid/ CPR, Power Mobile Equipment, OH&S Level 1&2.

Responsibilities

• Construct new streets, lanes, roadways, intersections, ramps, boulevards, medians, ditches, and all other appurtenances that may be required, within the scope of the Public Works Department.
• Ability to competently operate Motor Grader, loader, Excavator and other heavy equipment, with high level of proficiency to effectively assist work crews within project requirements and specifications.
• Maintain existing streets, lanes, roadways, intersections, ramps, boulevards, medians, ditches, and all other appurtenances that may exist within the scope of the Public Works Department.
• Cut to final grade specifications with high level of proficiency for construction of new curb and gutter, sidewalk, combined sidewalk, new asphalt placement, and other finishing motor grader operations as may be required.
• Proficient placement of aggregates, hotmix asphalt, and/or other materials, in order to obtain a high level of consistency in final project.
• Landscaping of all projects in order to establish and maintain desired results in regards to drainage and appearance of finished products.

• Must have Grade 12 or GED equivalency.
• Must possess and maintain a clean RCMP security clearance and drivers abstract.
• Class 3A Drivers License is preferred.
• Concrete and Paving experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and with minimum Supervision

Compensation: $26.54$32.91 per hour, based on qualifications and relevant experience.
