Job Summary
The Operator 1 will complete tasks related to the accurate and timely completion of orders per customer specifications using a variety of desktop publishing equipment and integrated software packages under the direction of the Prepress Lead. As an entry level on-the-job training position for skill, this may include receiving, evaluating, and modifying more complex customer files, and the learning of new techniques on specific skills and procedures.
Basic Qualifications
H.S. diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree preferred.
Minimum Required Experience: 2 Years Related Experience.
Preferred Skills
Excellent working knowledge of current graphic arts software, Macintosh layout, Windows platform and design applications, i.e. Prinergy, Quark Xpress, Indesign, etc…
Requires a strong understanding of composition and prepress operations.
Previous experience or training in computer-to-plate technology preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and numerical data. Ability to write simple reports and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and employees.
Mathematical Skills – ability to add subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rates, discounts, count inventory, and percentages. Calculate volumes, weights and measures. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Work Planning, Organization & Execution – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
