Job summary

Sandvik Mining, Ground Support Division seeks an Operator 1 at their facility in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, to operate equipment after training and support fellow operators. The role involves lifting, loading, and ensuring production targets are met in a safety-focused environment.

We value mechanical aptitude, basic education, and the ability to read measurements; prior manufacturing experience is an asset. Eligible for development, benefits, and a pension plan.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined with prior experience in an industrial environment.
• Grade 12 education would be an asset or 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
• Able to read/understand a tape measure (standard/metric).
• Ability to use fractions, decimals, and conversions of the metric system.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment where training has been completed.
• Assist other machine operators as required.
• Meet all production rates for the equipment being operated.
• Lift raw materials, finished products, package items; prepare for shipment manually or with forklift (if trained).
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Sort products by weight, grade, size, and material composition.
• Complete paperwork per Sandvik Underground processes (paper or electronic).
• Move products and materials between storage and work areas using hand trucks or powered lifts.

What you will be doing

• Operate equipment where training has been completed
• Assist other machine operators as required.
• Meet all production rates for the equipment being operated
• Lift raw materials, finished products, package items. Prepare them for shipment manually or by using forklift (if trained on a forklift)
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Separate products according to weight, grade, size, and composition of materials used to produce them.
• Complete all paperwork as required per DSI Undergrounds process. This could be in paper form or electronically
• Place products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.
• Remove products, machine attachments, and waste material from machines.
• Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered-lift trucks.

What you will bring along

• Mechanically inclined with prior experience working in an industrial environment is a requirement
• Grade 12 education would be an asset or 1-3 years related experience and/or training
• Can accurately read/understand a tape measure (standard/metric)
• Must have the ability to use fractions, decimals equivalents and conversion of the metric system. (Use of drill charts)
• Previous manufacturing or assembly experience would be considered an asset
