What will you be doing!
- Identifying operational problems and bringing them to the attention of the Operations Specialist.
- Providing guidance and working effectively with other Operations staff to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Assisting in the safe operation and maintenance of the Port Hope and Port Granby Waste Water Treatment Plants within the terms of the Waste Nuclear Substance Licenses and applicable CNL operating practices.
- Operating process equipment, including start-up, shutdown, valve manipulations and chemical sampling, as well as operating pumps, fans, compressors, hoists, lift trucks, overhead cranes, rig slings and lifting tackle when required.
- Preparing chemical solutions and performing routine laboratory analysis. Safe operation and maintenance of chemical handling equipment are also required.
- Troubleshooting operating faults quickly and accurately by implementing appropriate corrective action.
- Assisting and working with other technical staff performing tests, investigations, and special studies.
- Interfacing with the Design Consultants and Construction Contractors hired to engineer and build the waste management facilities to ensure they understand the operating requirements and that commissioning and turnover requirements are fully defined and systematically implemented.

What We Are Looking For
- Education
- A diploma or certificate from a recognized institute of engineering technology OR applied sciences and 2-4 years of experience or its equivalent in experience, additional education and/or recognized training.
- Experience
- Mechanical and hands-on operational experience.
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
- Experience dealing with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission or Environment Canada is an asset.
- Ability to read all types of technical drawings is strongly preferred.
- A valid "G" Class driver's license is required.
- Good knowledge of process engineering systems and the equipment (mechanical and electrical) typically encountered.
- Knowledge and first-hand experience operating water treatment systems, familiarity with normal and typical abnormal operating scenarios, and methods for troubleshooting operational breakdowns.
- Proven capability to effectively organize and assist in managing maintenance records, work permits, etc.
- Willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills to adapt to the changing operational requirements.
- Possess initiative, good judgement, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and a positive attitude.
- Must understand and follow emergency procedures and safe work practices to complete work safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project).
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

- Moderate to high levels of physical activity may be required at times.
- Field work during all weather conditions.
