Job summary

Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM) in Surrey, BC, is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead the day-to-day production activities and manage Team Leads and Operators. The role focuses on safety, takt time, quality, and KPI-driven performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related degree; five years of experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing with leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with takt time, standard work, visual management, and daily tier meetings.
  • Proficiency with ERP, Excel, and production dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily execution of production activities in the assigned work center to meet or exceed safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate Team Leads and Operators, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
  • Ensure adherence to daily build schedules and takt time; escalate risks to production targets to the Operations Manager.
  • Monitor and track performance against key metrics (output, defects, rework, attendance, downtime) and lead Tier2 daily management meetings.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Materials, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure work center readiness (materials, tools, documents, etc.).
  • Enforce safety protocols, 5S practices, standard work, and compliance with operational policies.
  • Support onboarding, cross-training, and upskilling of team members in partnership with Learning & Development.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for issues impacting quality, delivery, or safety.

The Operations Supervisor is a first-line people leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of a defined value stream. The Operations Supervisor ensures that all teams operate safely, meet takt time and schedule targets, and deliver high-quality output in alignment with KPIs. This role manages multiple Team Leads and Operators and partners closely with the Operations Manager to identify constraints, support continuous improvement, and maintain flow across the work center.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work. The regular shift time will be 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM.

Essential Functions

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, SupplyChainor a related degree. Five years ofadditionalrelative experience, includingdemonstratedleadership,in lieu of a degree will also be considered.

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including 1+ years in a formal or informal leadership role.

  • Experience withtakttime, standard work, visual management, and daily tier meetings.

  • Proficiencyin basic digital tools (ERP, Excel, production dashboards).

  • Strongpeopleleadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated career ambition witha track recordof growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization.

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

[Compensation Range: CAD $38.46 - $55.30/hr] Plus Shift Premium
