Job description

Job Description: Full-time salaried position - $60-75k + benefits starting day 1. Bilingualism is a must to perform the job. SGS Canada is seeking to recruit an office-based Operations and Quality Supervisor responsible for the management and supervision of staff working across various contracts.

Responsibilities:
  1. HSE responsibility for all employees under Marine Services Group.
  2. Receive instructions from customers and provide technical advice as necessary.
  3. Develop new service offerings to increase revenue.
  4. Maintain continuous contact with customers to discuss operational issues and service improvements.
  5. Stay updated with industry developments within shipping and logistics industries.
  6. Prepare and submit proposals.
  7. Participate in developing standards, including bulk handling standards.
  8. Provide technical advice to internal and external customers regarding logistics and shipping industries.
  9. Review inspection requirements upon receiving appointments from customers and prepare proposals accordingly.
  10. Disseminate SGS corporate guidelines to staff for implementation.
  11. Direct staff for upcoming jobs ensuring service requirements are met.
  12. Create and update SOPs.
  13. Lead SIR Program Training in conjunction with Operations Supervisor and Field Supervisor.
  14. Monitor employee performance within Marine Services.
  15. Support additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications:
  • College or bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Over 3 years of experience with quality control systems, including ISO.
  • Strong knowledge of the industry.
  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and enterprise operating systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effective presentation and response skills for groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Teamwork, initiative, and leadership qualities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively.
