Summary :

The Ops Supervisor is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient scheduling functions for the company through maintaining inbound/outbound processes. He/she will manage communication networks to relay work orders, messages, and information to or from work crews, supervisors, and linehaul carriers using company-approved methods. Additional responsibilities include assigning loads to carriers and providing accurate reports of freight being loaded and unloaded. The role involves supporting a fast-paced, high-volume office/warehouse environment and assisting in completing operational and data entry tasks accurately and promptly.

Job Duties :

  1. Supervise overall operations on the cross dock and offload/load processes, procedures, and personnel.
  2. Maintain and execute the daily work plan to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of inbound/outbound load execution.
  3. Manage scheduling, discipline, and performance of employees involved in unloading/loading processes.
  4. Create and modify dock worker schedules based on demand and performance.
  5. Monitor workloads and actively pursue additional resources when justified.
  6. Coordinate service and schedules by monitoring personnel and equipment locations and utilization.
  7. Develop initiatives and procedures to maximize organizational efficiency in servicing clients.
  8. Verify and process worker activity logs.
  9. Maintain and update departmental communication logs.
  10. Foster open and effective communication with all workers to ensure fairness and clarity.
  11. Create and maintain logs for quick checks and quality assessments.
  12. Respond to complaints thoroughly and accurately.
  13. Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
  14. Ensure all workers complete required training via Carriers Edge (Manager/Supervisor Training Program).
  15. Perform other duties as required.

Hours : Mon - Friday, 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Requirements :

  • Management experience leading a team preferred.
  • Experience in warehouse/LTL environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry practices (shipping/receiving, scheduling, freight negotiations, regulations) is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Clean Criminal Record.
  • Ability to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills.
