Operational Professional – Compost Facility

Compost Site Operator- Full Time

Position Summary:

We are currently looking for a skilled machine operator to operate various pieces of heavy equipment including loaders, grinders, skid steers and various other pieces of machinery. The Compost Site Operator will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for safe and efficient operation of the facility and deliveries from our clients.

The Compost Site Operator position will be responsible and accountable for all materials that can and cannot be accepted at the facility, maintain, and operate a safe, clean, and friendly work environment for both internal and external clients.

The facility is located close to High River, Alberta. Applicant will need their own transportation to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Work Safely
  • Know, understand, and follow the Standard Operating Procedures of the company. From time to time, you will also help develop and make changes to the current Standard Operating procedures for the facility.
  • Understand the regulatory and operating approvals as they pertain to our facility including materials that can and cannot be accepted at the facility.
  • Operate the scale system and input data as required.
  • Build and move composting windrows.
  • Operate the Covered Aerated Static Piles composting system.
  • Communicate with the customer as necessary and maintain good client relations.
  • Operate and maintain the facility equipment as per SOP’s and maintenance schedule.
  • Possess the ability to issue Safe Work Permits as required for 3rd party contractors.
  • Hazard ID and Incident identification and reporting
  • Know, understand, and follow our Operations Management System which encapsulates health, safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Class 5 Driver License
  • Qualified to operate heavy equipment.
  • At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined

Compensation:

Compensation is competitive and will be based on qualifications.

The candidate will have onsite training and will be required to complete a certified composting course for the position within 2 years of starting.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Schedule:

  • This is a full-time position requiring a 40 hour work week with weekend work required.A mutually agreed- upon schedule will be established with the successful candidate.
