Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Operations Project Engineer co-op for a 16-month term in Waterdown, Ontario.

The role focuses on supporting New Product Introductions (NPI) within Operations, explaining and interpreting information, and contributing to process changes to meet production targets. Working with the Operations NPI Team, you will help launch new products or variations, resolve technical issues, and support manufacturing process development.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Community College or University Mechanical, Mechatronics and/or Electrical Engineering program.
• Solid modelling CAD package experience, specifically SolidWorks.
• Familiar with Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Processes.
• Ability to read and understand Mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics.
• Experience and interest in shop floor control activities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a project-based environment.
• Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Well organized, goal oriented, and detail focused.
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD is an asset.

About the Role

This is a 16 month co-op term with a role as an Operations Project Engineer focused on supporting New Product Introductions (NPI). Working under general direction and guidance and collaborating with contacts in Operations NPI Team to explain and interpret information. Contributes to the launch of new products and or variations of standard configurations into production to achieve operational targets that impact team results. Work consists of contribution to changes in processes to solve problems. Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches being utilized. Expected to recommend solutions to problems for others review. Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team. Work is typically on smaller, less complex projects or task-related activities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in assigned projects related to Operations activities

• Work in partnership with the project and cell teams to resolving technical issues and the development of new systems processes

• Support cell team activities and resolve issues on a daily basis

• Assist in the development of manufacturing processes and procedures for Production

• Capture and analyze data from Frontloading activities

• Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and mechanical staff, and implement changes as required

• Support any other business priorities as required by Operations leadership.

Required Capabilities

• Must have experience with a solid modelling CAD package, SolidWorks

• Familiar with Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Processes

• Able to read and understand Mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics

• Experience and high interest in shop floor control activities

• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a Project-based environment

• Technical communication skills both verbal and written

• Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail

• Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization

• Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD an asset, but not required
