I. Job Summary

The Route Manager Trainee (RMT) training program is designed to prepare individuals to become frontline Route Managers. The majority of the day is spent in the field, interacting with frontline employees. Through hands-on training, we teach you how to increase financial profitability, maximize operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and lead teams. Candidates must be willing to relocate within a specified geographic area after completing the training.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Developing
  • Provide timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employees
  • Review best practices to enhance daily performance
  • Partner with Drivers and Technicians to develop job-related skills
  • Complete the assigned RMT training curriculum and other training
Coaching
  • Practice and seek feedback on coaching conversations
  • Collaborate with frontline managers to understand daily operations
Other
  • Develop knowledge of DOT & OSHA safety programs, operational processes, systems & tools, performance management, dispatch & routing, fleet maintenance.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This role may involve leadership or management responsibilities periodically during the program.

IV. Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements for performing this job:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with four years of relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to relocate within the assigned area after training
  • Ability to work flexible hours, ride in a vehicle or sit at a desk up to 12 hours/day
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Effective decision-making skills
