OPERATIONS MANAGER

ABOUT US

Everywoman’s Health Centre (www.ewhc.ca) is an abortion and sexual health clinic in Vancouver, BC, accredited by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons and the National Abortion Federation. We are a registered charity and nonprofit society that is governed by a board of directors and employ a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, counsellors, and admin staff. Everywoman’s Health Centre is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), and the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the clinic.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinic Operations and Administration

  1. Coordinates day-to-day activities of the clinic
  2. Manages maintenance of the physical facilities and equipment
  3. Assists in activities required for accreditation processes
  4. Ensures that IT systems are effective and efficient

Financial Management

  1. Prepares payroll
  2. Reviews and reconciles accounts payables and initiates payment
  3. Reviews internal financial transactions on a monthly basis including general ledger, income statements, VISA, etc.
  4. Prepares financial reports for funders and government agencies as needed
  5. Participates in the annual audit

Human Resources

  1. Models and ensures a respectful, collaborative, and productive working environment
  2. Manages administrative and support staff
  3. Adheres to unionized staff’s collective agreements
  4. Oversees scheduling of staff and physicians
  5. Coordinates clinical training placements for clinical learners
  6. Maintains complete and accurate HR files
  7. Develops and maintains personnel policies and job descriptions consistent with collective agreements

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

  1. This position is full-time on-site at the clinic.
  2. Hours of work are generally Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 (somewhat flexible).
  3. There is an expectation of being available after hours, particularly as relates to arranging coverage for short-notice staff illness and emergencies.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time salaried position. The salary range is $35.73 to $51.36 per hour, with an expected starting salary around the mid-point. This position includes a defined benefit pension plan (MPP); extended health and dental benefits; competitive vacation allowance, and paid sick time.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree in health administration, business, human resources, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience with progressive responsibilities; including a minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory capacity.
  • Experience working in a health care and/or non-profit environment preferred.
  • A commitment to reproductive choice. Previous experience with and knowledge of reproductive health issues is an asset.
  • Effective project management and logistical skills, including excellent time management and a track record of delivering on-deadline.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Experience in processing payroll and accounts payable.
  • Strong technology skills and understanding of MS Office environment.
  • Strong human resources skills. A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is essential. Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Other languages an asset.
