Job description

Wikwemikong Unceded Territory is accepting applications for Operations Manager – Security/Bylaw Enforcement to be responsible for overseeing the Security and By-Law Department working collaboratively with internal and external partners.

Job Duties

  • Supervise daily security team operations, ensuring efficient task completion
  • Ability to lead investigations, prepare reports, and provide detailed documentation of incidents and enforcement activities
  • Familiarity with workplace safety regulations (e.g. OHSA) and incident reporting protocols
  • Devise and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard the organization and its assets
  • Proficiency in using security management systems, digital radios, GPS tracking, and basic reporting software
  • Perform routine security assessments to identify and address potential risks and vulnerabilities, crafting strategies for risk reduction
  • Monitor surveillance and alarm systems, swiftly responding to security breaches or incidents
  • Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and relevant stakeholders during security emergencies
  • Educate and train security personnel on protocols and emergency response plans
  • Regularly inspect security equipment (CCTV, access control, alarms) to ensure proper functioning and upkeep
  • Prepare comprehensive incident reports with improvement recommendations
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate security measures into all operational facets, including events, facility management, and employee safety
  • Stay abreast of evolving security trends, technologies, and regulations, providing recommendations for system and procedural enhancements

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Valid Security Guard License issued by PSISB is an asset
  • Certification of Use of Force, First Aid/CPR, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention is an asset
  • Bylaw Enforcement Officer Certification (e.g. Municipal Law Enforcement – MLEO) is an asset
  • Valid Class G (or equivalent) driver’s license with clean abstract
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in security operations or bylaw enforcement, including 1-2 years in a supervisory or management roll
  • Proven experience in coordinating field operations, shift scheduling, and team management
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or in a public service environment is an asset
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful when working with diverse populations, particularly in Indigenous communities
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Strong knowledge of Provincial and Municipal Laws, bylaws and enforcement protocols
