The Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the daily management of their Lodge. This role entails developing programs, ensuring compliance with justice standards, and fostering a culturally competent environment. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in social services and be committed to supporting Indigenous traditions while ensuring the safety of residents.

Qualifications

  • Required two years’ experience in Criminal and/or Alternative Justice.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions is a definite asset.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain is necessary.

Job description

Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Indigenous Women’s Healing Centre’s mission and vision, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Lodge, including but not limited to policy and program development, staffing, facility management, resident intake and discharge procedures, compliance with Section 81 terms and objectives, and all Correction Services Canada standards and regulations. The operation manager is also responsible for ensuring all statistical data and reports are available as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • BSW or other related professional degree in a social service/management field with two years’ experience, preferably in Criminal and/or Alternative Justice. IWHC reserves the right to consider any combination of work and life experience deemed acceptable.
  • Previous management and staff supervision experience.
  • Ability to motivate and support a diverse staff.
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment is a definite asset.
  • Experience in program development.
  • Experience producing and presenting program reports and statistics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively and de-escalate when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions is a definite asset.
  • Fluency in an Indigenous language or dialect is an asset.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and respect for diversity.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain as required.
  • Subject to Child Abuse Registry check and ability to obtain Enhanced Security Clearance.
  • Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license and access to a vehicle for work are required.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with residents.
  • Avoid sharing personal stories or experiences with residents.
  • Keep personal and home scenarios private and separate from work.
  • Follow confidentiality policies.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents and their children, modeling appropriate behaviors.
  • Ensure child safety is a paramount consideration in all services and supports.
  • Work non-judgmentally, accepting, and respecting differing values, ideas, and beliefs.
  • Immediately report any concerns of resident or child safety to the proper authorities.
  • Report suspected child abuse or protection concerns promptly.
  • Report any incidents of violence causing injury to the Winnipeg Police Service or National Monitoring Center.
