Job Description :
The Operations Manager is responsible for planning and direct line management of all Supply Chain / Manufacturing processes and activities within a specific, defined product group, including but not limited to resource planning, capacity planning, production schedule execution, material management, shipping, the application of quality programs, operating / preventative maintenance, EHS management, facilities maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
The Operations Manager provides technical and motivational leadership and drives continuous improvement in the Supply Chain (SCP) process with the goal of exceeding customer delivery and quality expectations by maximizing productivity and optimum utilization of resources.
The Operations Manager ensures continuous support of the sales and marketing process by providing superior service including delivery / lead-time, prevention and timely resolution of quality problems, ensuring adequate capacity in light of changing requirements and participation in high level sales / customer negotiations, as required. While not directly responsible for sales and marketing, the Operations Manager shares responsibility for sales growth as being part of the management team, and has direct interface with customers where appropriate to ensure customers have a superior experience.
The Operations Manager is directly responsible for delivering and receiving approval for an Annual Operating Plan and Budget. The Operations Manager is responsible for execution and achievement of the established Operating Plan and Budget.
Primary Responsibilities :
Drives a proactive culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement where the production management team is never satisfied with the current performance level and continuously pushing for and driving incremental and step-level performance enhancement.Generates Operational Sections of the Annual Business Plan and manages the day-to-day manufacturing activities to achieve the deliverables in the plan.Interprets company sales forecasts and new product plans and establishes corollary manufacturing, inventory, manpower and purchasing plans to assure an adequate and timely supply of manufactured products to efficiently fulfill sales orders and meet inventory requirements.Plans, organizes and staffs all manufacturing processes with an orientation to both short term (12 months) and long term facility (18-36 months), equipment and manpower needs. Assures that personnel in each group are properly qualified, directed and trained to perform their duties effectively which includes appropriate supervisor level personnel.Tracks and reviews KPI measurements with the intent of taking early and immediate action to ensure success.On-time delivery to both finished goods & customers,
Zero customer corrective actions (CARs),Zero negative variances as related to standard manufacturing costsContinuous improvement in productivity and total manufacturing costs.Directly interfaces with large customers where appropriate to ensure a strong link between customer requirements and the company’s delivery of product and services to meet these requirements. Establishes and maintains a relationship with these customers typically through their quality managers and on-site auditors.Establishes, manages and controls all local Supply Chain policies and ensures conformance to all Corporate Supply Chain policies. Responsible for the application of approved engineering policies and practices to minimize product variability, improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and otherwise promote cost reductions and high levels of productivity.Manages all subcontracted processes including the appropriate selection and qualification of existing and new subcontractors and service providers.Plans equipment layout, work flow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Manages maintenance and repair of department equipment and facilities. Ensures compliance with OSHA and EHS regulations.Establishes the most efficient and cost-effective production processes, methods and equipment, providing clear, concise process documentation and training. Ensures that all production processes are supported with a process control measurement tool appropriate for the process.Assures high levels of customer service by maintaining competitive delivery schedules (responsive factories) and high levels of quality. Anticipates potential problems and implements preventative measures to ensure customer deliveries of a quality product are not adversely impacted.Oversees the operational elements of the Quality Management System including all EHS certification requirements as it relates to the operating unit. Ensures appropriate systemic corrective actions are implemented when required with dedication to root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.Ensures that the operating unit complies with all government regulations as they relate to the environment, health and safety, and establishes the expectation that the Unit shows leadership to set the standard for safety in a world-class production environment.Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial) and / or Business (MBA preferred).Previous experience in an Operations / Production leadership role in a manufacturing company, with customer facing responsibilitiesTen (10) + years management responsibility in a similar industry (Automotive, Aerospace or Heavy Industry).Comprehensive manufacturing experience – preferably in metals manufacturing utilizing cutting, folding, welding, machining, punching, shearing, stamping or casting. Deep understanding of manufacturing a high number of SKU’s in a batch processing environment.Demonstrated and proven characteristics of being a successful Manager (will go into detail about this in the interview process)Profit and Loss (P&L) experienceLean Manufacturing expertise with an emphasis on Continuous ImprovementOrganizational Development experienceERP / MRP experience with a familiarity with the settings within MRP controlsPlease send confidential resume portfolio to Sara R.
