Job summary

Dometic Marine's Vancouver-based facility leads the design and manufacture of hydraulic, electronic, and combustion products for the boating industry. This Operations Manager role reports to the Director of Operations and is based in Vancouver, BC.

You will oversee tactical assembly production activities, drive on-time delivery, quality, safety, and cost targets, and lead continuous improvement across the team.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Engineering or Operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years' managerial experience with direct reports.
• Experience with Lean methods and implementation.
• Experience with Lean philosophy, systems and tools.
• Strong MS Office skills and quick learner.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure production is safe, efficient, and timely while maintaining quality.
• Review capacity and staffing using demand data; plan low-cost production.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities in labor, cycles, scrap, costs.
• Support new product development.
• Oversee production supervisors; coach and mentor staff.

Dometic is on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Operations Manager. This position reports to Director of Operations and will work in Vancouver, BC.

About the position

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Operations Manager of the Vancouver team, you will be overseeing the tactical activities of assembly production within the facility. Responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of quality products on time, at the lowest cost, while maintaining a safe and positive work environment. Promote continuous improvement while meeting established annual improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and direct and indirect costs. Provide strong leadership through appropriate and timely feedback, coaching and mentoring all levels of production employees.

Your main responsibilities

• Ensure production is done safely, efficiently, and timely, while producing quality parts.
• Use part and product demand information from materials and customer orders to review capacity and staffing levels; determine and implement solutions and schedules to produce required parts on time and at a low cost.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement, including labour, process cycle times, utilization, scrap and maintenance costs.
• Support new product development.
• Oversee production supervisors; coach, guide, and mentor direct reports to achieve higher performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

A suitable background would

• Degree or diploma in Engineering or Operations or a suitable combination of experience and education.
• A minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• A minimum 3 years of experience as a manager with non-technical and technical reports.
• Experience with Lean methods and implementation.
• Experience with Lean philosophy, methods, systems and tools, and implementation.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and, the ability to learn other applications quickly.
• Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision making abilities.
