What you will be doing

  • Assist the Branch Manager in planning, organizing, managing, and controlling the operations under his/her responsibility, based on the company’s management values.
  • Investigate to verify and resolve customer and shipper complaints.
  • Implement schedule and policy changes.
  • Identify routes that require operational follow-ups and ensure route supervision.
  • Ensure that the collective agreement and applicable laws are suitably applied; foster open discussions and transparency.
  • Ensure performance evaluations for unionized staff are carried out efficiently before the end of the probation period.
  • Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
  • Participate in disciplinary processes or settlements of grievances.
  • Monitor operations to ensure staff respect administrative policies, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
  • Monitor spending to ensure expenses are within approved budgets.
  • Prepare management recommendations, such as proposed fee or schedule changes.
  • Conduct investigations, when necessary, in cooperation with internal or external agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and improve safety procedures.

What we are looking for

  • 5 years’ experience in administration and management of unionized employees or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Health and Safety management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Workers Compensation reporting process.
  • Have a valid Restricted and Non-Restricted Firearms License (PAL: Possession and Acquisitions License).
  • Driven by offering exceptional customer service.
  • Sense of urgency, outstanding communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork and partnership orientation.
