POSITION: Operations Manager

REPORTING TO: General Manager

LOCATION: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operational and facilities management of the Atlantic Region, including Dartmouth Crossing. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of large-scale commercial facilities, with a proven ability to manage building systems, service contracts, and tenant relations with professionalism and efficiency.

This is a hands-on operations management role requiring a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.

This in an onsite position (5 days per week) in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of property operations, including building systems, maintenance, cleaning, security, and service delivery.
  • Oversee OH&S procedures to ensure in full compliance per government regulations and documentation are maintained.
  • Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring high operational performance standards, safety protocols, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants on operational matters, addressing concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Assist in preparation and management of operational budgets, providing accurate forecasting and cost control.
  • Collaborate closely with leasing and property management teams to support tenant onboarding and operational transitions.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of marketing events both at property and in the community events and venues as necessary.
  • Ensure all infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, etc.) is operating at optimal levels, and environmental standards as well as preventative maintenance is maintained.
  • Lead for after-hours emergency on-call, in emergency preparedness, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies across the property.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tenant satisfaction and property performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities or operations management, preferably within a large commercial, retail, or mixed-use environment. With at least 2 years at the management level.
  • Strong understanding of building systems and technical infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing vendor contracts and service-level agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong tenant and contractor relationships.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Well organized and efficient at multi-tasking in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and compliance requirements in Nova Scotia.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Systems, or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • OH&S certifications and relevant training, first aid, an asset.
  • Must be able to obtain Federal Security Clearance, Reliability status
  • Possess valid driver’s license, be insurable.
