As the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth daily operations, managing teams, maintaining vessels and facilities, and creating unforgettable guest experiences—all while honoring the cultural and environmental integrity of Homalco First Nation's territories
Responsibilities
1. Operational Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, guest services, and logistics.
- Maintain high-quality standards for all tours, facilities, and equipment.
- Manage and schedule maintenance for vessels, buses, and related equipment to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with Orford supervisor to do camp setups at Orford Bay, ensuring readiness for seasonal operations.
- Address booking inquiries, manage reservations, and assist with customer calls.
2. Team Leadership & Training
- Recruit, onboard, train, and schedule staff, including guides, skippers, and office personnel.
- Collaborate with the Office Manager to support administrative staff.
- Lead internal training initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, resolve team conflicts, and foster a collaborative and professional work environment.
3. Guest Experience & Conflict Resolution
- Actively engage with guests to ensure exceptional service and address concerns or escalations.
- Collect guest feedback and implement improvements to elevate the overall experience.
- Assist Orford Supervisor during bear viewing season (August-October).
4. Vessel & Transportation Management
- Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure readiness of vessels, buses, and camp infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary contact for boat and bus-related issues, collaborating with skippers, drivers, and service technicians.
- Coordinate bus barge operations and manage site maintenance activities, such as spring brushing and tower/road repairs.
5. Team Scheduling & Management
- Manage schedules for both town-based and Orford-based staff, including time-off requests and finding replacements.
- Supervise guides, skippers, and crew members, ensuring alignment with operational needs and policies.
6. Collaboration & Growth
- Work with General Manager in weekly reporting, as well as implement strategic goals and operational improvements.
- Actively contribute to sustainability initiatives and preserve the cultural heritage of Homalco territories.
- Be available during tour season for weekend and holiday work, as well as on-call duties for emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operations management, preferably in tourism, hospitality, or marine industries.
- Knowledge of vessel and transportation maintenance; marine certifications are an asset.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of managing and mentoring teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and multitasking abilities.
- Commitment to cultural sensitivity and environmental preservation, aligned with the Homalco guiding principles.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with technology.
- Bachelor of Management or equivalent work experience is preferred.

Pay: From $63,000.00 per year
