GFT is seeking a Project Operations & Maintenance Development Specialist to join our Public Transit Team in Toronto, Ontario. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Project Operations & Maintenance Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting operations and maintenance (O&M) projects for our subway extension initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to expand your career through collaboration and leadership, managing complex projects, undertaking challenging roles, and contributing to the enhancement of processes. You will be responsible for developing and achieving approval for operational concepts, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring that all transit agency requirements are met within project and operational plans.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead and participate in internal and external client meetings.
  • Engage in technical proposals and business development activities.
  • Validate functional design concepts and ensure their feasibility.
  • Coordinate comprehensive review cycles for documentation, ensuring operational concepts are effectively communicated.
  • Define specifications for complex infrastructure, facilities, and transportation projects.
  • Manage projects across transportation and transit sectors, public facilities, and urban design.
  • Work in collaboration with stakeholder teams, including Metrolinx, TTC, city agencies, and contractors, to achieve consensus and foster effective communication.
  • Develop and implement O&M integration plans while evaluating stakeholder requests.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for reliability, availability, and maintainability.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Post-Secondary Education in fields such as Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Business Analysis, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience in Facilities Management, Construction, Transit/Transportation, IT, or Communications.
  • At least 5 years of architectural and project management experience.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural and civil data/drawings.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation & Parks (MECP), and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Experience with REVIT, AutoCAD, BIM principles, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of ProjectWise and various MS Office applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects effectively.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and risk management abilities.

The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
