Job description

About the Role:

RWC is seeking an Operations Excellence Lead to support the tools, processes, workflows, and training that help our Site Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and field leaders execute work consistently and successfully.

This role reports directly to the Director of Construction and acts as a support function across construction operations. The focus is not to directly manage day-to-day project execution, but to improve the systems, tools, templates, reporting, and processes that allow project and field teams to succeed.

The Operations Excellence Lead will work closely with construction, project management, site leadership, estimating, finance, procurement, safety, training, and administration to connect workflows, reduce gaps, improve consistency, and support practical adoption of better processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, document, and improve standard operating procedures for construction and project execution.
  • Build and refine practical tools, templates, checklists, and forms used by Site Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and field leaders.
  • Support workflows related to project kickoff, budget handoff, production tracking, field reporting, cost-to-complete updates, change orders, issue tracking, manpower planning, closeout, and post-project reviews.
  • Train and support users on company processes, tools, systems, and reporting expectations.
  • Create quick-reference guides, onboarding materials, process maps, and training resources.
  • Work with project and field teams to identify tools or processes that are unclear, duplicated, difficult to use, or not producing reliable information.
  • Improve how information flows between estimating, project management, site management, field operations, finance, procurement, safety, warehouse/logistics, and leadership.
  • Support technology adoption by helping define how systems should be used, what information must be updated, and who owns the data.
  • Improve reporting quality around production rates, labor performance, project health, cost-to-complete updates, issue aging, change orders, and process compliance.
  • Monitor process adoption and help ensure tools are being used consistently across teams.
  • Gather feedback from users and turn recurring issues into practical process improvements.
  • Support change management when new workflows, templates, tools, or systems are rolled out.
  • Help leadership gain better visibility into operational performance, process gaps, and improvement priorities.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of construction operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in construction operations, project management, project coordination, field operations, business process improvement, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, job costing, field reporting, project documentation, and operational handoffs.
  • Proven ability to develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, templates, checklists, and training resources.
  • Ability to bridge construction operations and technology by implementing practical tools and improving business processes.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills, with the ability to work effectively across field and office teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a practical understanding of field operations and user experience.
  • Ability to build relationships across departments, align priorities, and drive adoption of new processes and systems.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, Power BI, AI applications, and other construction or business technology platforms is considered an asset.
