Job summary

Celestica is seeking an Operations Engineer in Newmarket, Ontario. You will be responsible for setup, maintenance, and operator training for PCB manufacturing, designing fixtures, and developing programs to optimize high-speed production lines.

You will evaluate equipment, coordinate upgrades, and participate in customer communications to improve product quality and yield. Strong PLC/CAD skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential.

Job description

Summary

The Operations Engineer is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operator training for printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. Designs fixtures, develops programs, and optimizes high-speed manufacturing processes to ensure accurate, consistent, and efficient production.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for designing fixtures, programming, maintaining, and optimizing automated dispensing equipment to ensure high-speed, accurate, and consistent production.
  • Provides basic technical support on assigned materials for production or customer-identified material problems.
  • Helps determine inspection criteria for incoming materials. Coordinates and performs component selection and qualification.
  • Evaluates new equipment, coordinates software and hardware upgrades, sets equipment specifications and qualification tests and recommends new equipment.
  • Interacts with customers to resolve problems and increase the quality and yield of the product.
  • Will also provide feedback to other engineering groups and possibly the customer to ensure smooth production of products.
  • Solves assigned technical product, process, component, or material problems affecting efficient manufacture of products within a specific area of responsibility in training or under direction/guidance of more experienced engineers.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Knowledge and experience with the design process for systems and printed circuit boards.
  • Understanding of systems and printed circuit board manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
  • Familiarity with industry and quality standards.
  • CAD Proficiency: Designing or modifying equipment layouts using tools like CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers. Good organization skills.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required.
Typical Experience and Education
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
Salary

The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.

The range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.

Salary Range: $67,000 - $87,000 CAD/year
