The Dadzi Wellness Centre is a groundbreaking, standalone First Nations primary care facility located in Fort St. James, in north-central British Columbia. Serving the Dakelh members of the Nak’azdli Whut’en, Binche Whut’en, and Tl’azt’en Nations, our centre is ideally situated on Stuart Lake, close to the communities we support.

Title: Operations Director- Dadzi Wellness Centre

Salary: $112,090 - $131,870 - $151,650 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: This position is a 2-year term with FNHA. When the term position ends with FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the Dadzi Wellness Centre Primary Care Clinic.

Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Dadzi Wellness Centre, Fort St. James, BC.

About The Role

As Operations Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and integrating both traditional wellness and culturally embedded health practices within the First Nations-Led Primary Care Center (FNPCC). The role champions the integration of traditional wellness and culturally embedded practices within an interprofessional care model. Key responsibilities include developing a team-based care framework, overseeing the quality of coordinated care, and ensuring positive health outcomes through continuous coaching and support of team members. Additionally, the position provides operational leadership to a diverse group of healthcare professionals and oversees the centre’s corporate functions. Reporting to the Regional Executive Director of the FNHA Northern Region, this role also collaborates closely with the Primary Care Regional Manager (FNHA Northern Region), the Community Health & Wellness Director of the FNHA Northern Region, and the Interim Governance Board, which is composed of appointed community representatives.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Education

  1. A degree in Health Management or a related field, with minimum 10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. Minimum 8 years of experience leading and managing teams in a healthcare setting, preferably at a management level in primary care.
  3. Minimum 8 years of experience in health management, including budgeting, program management, operational oversight, and strategic planning.
  4. Minimum 3 years of experience working directly in or with First Nations communities, with a strong understanding of cultural contexts and community health needs.
  5. Experience developing and overseeing operational contracts, agreements, and MOUs, as well as risk management and contingency planning for service delivery.
  6. Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), billing systems, and a high level of comfort using digital and online platforms.
  7. Proven ability to oversee operational functions, service integration, and team-based care models that improve health outcomes.
  8. Ability to navigate complex healthcare systems, implement innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvements in quality of care and patient experience.
  9. An MBA, experience working with First Nations clients, a strong understanding of First Nations cultures, anti-Indigenous racism response, and cultural humility, and/or training in cultural safety and anti-racism practices are assets.

Knowledge

  1. Strong understanding of cultural safety, humility, trauma-informed approaches, and the impact of power, privilege, and intersectionality on healthcare perspectives and service delivery.
  2. Deep understanding of First Nations cultural principles, protocols, and traditional healing practices, with the ability to integrate Indigenous and Western worldviews to enhance healthcare service delivery.
  3. Familiarity with key frameworks such as the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (BC), the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations, the "In Plain Sight" report, and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, as well as their impact on healthcare systems.
  4. Understanding of rural and remote communities, including their unique challenges, barriers, and the importance of Nation-based, community-driven healthcare models.

  1. Proven ability to lead and manage teams, fostering a collaborative, culturally safe, and high-performing work environment.
  2. Ability to model and promote cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and relational practice, while proactively addressing anti-Indigenous racism and cognitive biases in all interactions, partnerships, and planning initiatives.
  3. Skilled in managing budgets, overseeing administrative systems, and maintaining efficient operational processes to support organizational success.
  4. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, responsibility, and trust.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
