Operations Coordinator (Food & Vending Services)

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Food and Vending Services, the Operations Coordinator ensures front-line quality assurance for Food and Vending operations across Keele, Glendon, and Markham campuses. Responsibilities include monitoring contracted food service providers, ensuring compliance with contractual and legal standards, overseeing safe food handling practices, triaging maintenance issues, initiating corrective actions, and managing equipment inventory.

Education:

  • College diploma in Business, Hospitality Management, or related field, including courses in nutrition or food safety, or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (within the last three years) working at York University performing similar tasks. Food handler's certificate required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of recent experience in high-volume food and vending services, interacting with contracted providers in an institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Inspection by-laws, alcohol, and public health regulations, along with safe use of kitchen equipment and maintenance.

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills, courteous and effective communication at all levels.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to ongoing changes and practices.
  • Analytical skills with accuracy in working with figures and data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Additional Notes:

This position requires verification of degrees, credentials, or equivalencies at interview. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Summer hours are the same. Overtime requests may occur, especially during peak periods (August-September). Vacation restrictions apply during August-September.
