Responsibilities

  • Gather financial inputs (bond yields, rates, index values, stock prices) daily, validate accuracy and investigate issues.
  • Run and upload Universal Life crediting rates to systems for client-level rate-crediting of assets.
  • Validate accuracy of rate uploads to seven systems.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly marketing materials relating to crediting rates and publish to outlets.
  • Support adhoc/manual data gathering, rate calculation and reporting for stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between stakeholders for delays or issues.
  • Assist training, scheduling and quality checks for team members as needed.
  • Manage multiple deliverables in a dynamic data environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Support vendor management.
  • Perform internal testing, QA and auditing to ensure processing integrity.
  • Facilitate problem solving with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain the document and procedure library.

Job description

The Canadian Segment Legacy & Inforce Management team focuses on Portfolio Optimization, one of Manulife’s key strategic priorities, as well as Inforce Management. The team is responsible for identifying opportunities and executing initiatives to improve the value of inforce blocks. The team’s mandate is to improve the Canadian Segment ROE, generate free capital, reduce risk, and improve remittances for the company. The ongoing management of inforce business is the other primary focus of the team.

Reporting to the Manager of Canadian Legacy & Inforce Management, the Operations Associate -UL Rate Crediting is responsible for the daily updating of Manulife’s administrative systems with Retail and Institutional pricing files, various rates, index values and stock prices accurately in a time sensitive environment. The incumbent is the key contact for stakeholders when issues related to interest rate crediting arise, which happens quite frequently.

Hours
  • Incumbent must work shift beginning at 9am EST and finishing when all prices have been uploaded, usually around 5pm EST.

  • Overtime may be required.

  • The role would become hybrid in-office for 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Gather a variety of financial inputs (government and corporate bond yields, FX rates, equity index values, stock prices, mutual fund values, seg fund values, etc.) from various sources on a daily basis, validating accuracy within defined thresholds and investigating issues

  • Run and upload all Universal Life crediting rates to administrative systems, supporting client-level rate-crediting for over $8B of assets under management, validating accuracy of all calculated rates within defined thresholds and investigating / reporting issues.

  • Validate accuracy of the upload of rates to 7 administrative systems

  • Prepare Weekly and Monthly Marketing materials relating to all crediting rates calculated and ensure materials are posted to advisor and client facing outlets

  • Support a number of additional adhoc / manual processes, including data gathering, rate calculation, reporting, etc. for departmental, cross-departmental, and external stakeholders

  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders for any delays or issues.

  • Support team members with training, scheduling, processing issues, etc., and perform validation of their work as required.

  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a dynamic work environment where the timing of data availability changes day to day.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Support vendor management

  • Perform internal testing, quality assurance, and other auditing functions to ensure the integrity of department processing and workflow

  • Facilitate problem solving and remedial action by collaborating with internal stakeholders

  • Manage the document and procedure library, ensuring that procedures and job aids are accurate, up to date.

Salary range is expected to be between

$51,975.00 CAD - $86,625.00 CAD
