Join our team as an Operations Accounting Manager!
In this role you'll lead a cross-functional AP and AR team, driving financial accuracy, process optimization, and cost-saving initiatives across the organization. You'll champion system and policy enhancements within the Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Receipt cycles, support enterprise-wide change management, and ensured compliance through robust internal controls and reporting. You'll partner with key stakeholders to deliver actionable financial insights, enhance operational effectiveness, and support strategic projects.
This is a full-time position, our Home Office is located in Calgary and follows a hybrid model.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Leading a team of 20+ individuals, a mix of direct and indirect reports, to deliver AP and AR support to our clinics
- Driving team priorities, goals and partnering with other departments to support initiatives
- Performing a variety of period-end closing procedures including preparation and/or approving manual journal entries, working papers and reconciliations to ensure data is critically assessed and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Supporting the review and execution of the organization’s Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Receipt processes including the recommendations and implementation of fit-for-purpose policies, systems, and procedures using effective change management strategies
- Participating in company-wide initiatives such as move to national vendors, consolidated billing, and initiatives to reduce cost
- Analyzing and reconciling variances between the general ledger, sub ledgers and systems
- Assisting management in the evaluation of periodic results, including explanations for the budget, forecast and prior year variances
- Partnering and collaborating with operations teams throughout the organization to ensure accurate and timely delivery of periodic financial results, provide training on processes as required and support clinics to ensure their success
- Assisting the Financial reporting and Tax teams with preparing and/or reviewing deliverables for the external auditors, tax authorities and other special reporting
- Ensuring internal control environment is adhered to, documented and continually assessed for its effectiveness. Recommend and implement improvements if necessary
- Assisting in process and system development or enhancements as required
- Assisting in the completion of special projects and/or ad hoc projects throughout the business
As the Successful Candidate You Have:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- 3 - 5 years of leadership experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business (accounting or finance) or another related field
- Proficiency in MS Office, accounting software, and databases
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, laws, and regulations, with a proven track record of accuracy and compliance
- Ability to lead and inspire teams through positive, collaborative relationships
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and instruction at all levels of the organization and adapt messaging to the audience
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in systems implementation or project management is considered an asset
- Experience working within ERP systems, especially NetSuite, is considered an asset
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
