Under the direction of the Manager, ATS Learning Course Delivery, the Operational Training Specialist is accountable for planning, implementing, and supporting all simulation components of the FIR’s training programs. Work involves supporting Voice Recognition simulation delivery and simulation via pseudo pilot positions. The OTS provides national leadership on projects related to new or updated simulation systems and tools.

Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance simulation exercises, databases, and documentation to support FIR training requirements, ensuring standardization and conformance to policies and standards.
- Support the delivery of simulation training activities.
- Lead FIR or national multi-disciplinary project implementation teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate simulation delivery effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities, considering impacts on procedures, systems, and technology.
- Update courseware and simulation components based on operational changes, new technology, or training objectives.
- Coordinate, prepare, and distribute data files required by simulators.
- Troubleshoot simulation tools issues and liaise with higher support levels as needed.
- Train stakeholders on simulation tools and equipment operation.
Education/Occupational Certification
- Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience
- Knowledge of equipment operation gained through formal training and experience.
Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of Air Traffic Services procedures and systems.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and networking protocols.
- Understanding of air traffic control, flight information, and aircraft performance policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with NAV CANADA organization and ATC training.
Abilities
- Ability to work independently with initiative and sound judgment.
- Quick learner with creative and flexible thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to coach and guide team members.
- Adaptability to new technology.

Working Conditions
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with possible evening shifts.

Note
The trainee pay rate of $46,535 (ATT-0) applies for the first 90 days for new hires, after which full position pay applies. The full salary range is $85,500 to $105,061.
