Summary of duties

Under the supervision of the Director of the Teaching and Learning Technologies, the incumbent creates the necessary tools for the Teaching and Learning Technology Service's clients (uoCampus, Brightspace, Zoom and others) to align technology solutions with the University's operational objectives and needs. They analyze business operations and implements process improvements in support of multidisciplinary teams.

Key Fonctions

Business and Process Analysis

• Fully understand operational requirements so that they can be converted into technical specifications that will facilitate the development of new subsystems that closely match customer needs.
• Facilitate collaborative needs analysis workshops to collect, clarify and prioritize requirements associated with stakeholder requests (various departments and faculties of the University) regarding information processes and subsystems.
• Provide insight into decisions regarding the selection of new technology platforms to be implemented, while ensuring maximum added value and alignment with institutional priorities.
• Plan, prioritize and execute information subsystem implementation activities and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.

Data and Reporting Management

• Extract data from a variety of internal and external sources to prepare statistical and analytical reports in semantic form or synthetic, interactive dashboards that support decision-making.
• Examine data from the various information systems on a regular basis to identify gaps, inconsistencies and errors. Analyze the problems identified and their possible solutions. Make the necessary corrections.
• Actively promote good practices in data security and privacy, ensuring their integration into processes and technology platforms.
• Develop reporting structures and statistical methods for trend analysis and support the achievement of performance indicators. Verify the accuracy of data in the various information systems such as uoCampus and Brightspace, which impact admissions, enrolment, enrolment statement and BIU data, to ensure that the official statement accurately reflects reality.
• Design and execute test scenarios and integration tests to meet business and end-user needs, including leveraging Business Intelligence (BI) modules.

Documentation

• Prepare technical reports and user guides to document system development and assist users in the effective use of the systems in place.
• Maintain documentation of application functionality and the various transactions tested, recording information on different levels of errors; consolidate service requests, problem logs and system enhancements into successive releases for the operational area.

Training and Support

• Train employees in the use of new systems or to follow new procedures, whether through information capsules, physical documents, face-to-face or video training or other appropriate means.
• Provide expert advice to clients on the use of systems. Handle a variety of special client requests, including uploading or extracting data and managing specialized systems.

Security Services

• Investigate security breaches, recommend corrective actions and security measures necessary to ensure data integrity.

Continuous improvement and change management

• Keep up with emerging technologies and contribute to the planning of continuous improvement initiatives of processes and information systems.
• Implement change resulting from the improvement of existing systems or the implementation of new information subsystems.
• Support the Operations Sector in the implementation of changes to existing procedures.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Abilities

• University degree in computer science, management information systems or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting the IT needs of business units
• Knowledge of Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
• In-depth knowledge of the academic environment, its governance, school regulations and processes, and curricula
• Knowledge of IT principles and understanding of processes and business cycles
• Knowledge of project management methods and practices
