A leading company in the insurance sector seeks a Senior Leader of Operational Policy Fraud to drive and oversee operational fraud prevention and detection strategies. This pivotal role requires strong leadership and extensive experience within the insurance landscape, focusing on integrating fraud mitigation strategies and enhancing operational efficiency. The successful candidate will forge collaboration across teams and lead continuous improvement initiatives while aligning with Aviva's Enterprise Fraud Strategy.

Our Personal Insurance Operational Effectiveness team is looking for a Senior Leader of Operational Policy Fraud. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the operational actions in response to suspected fraud as well as overseeing operational fraud prevention and detection strategies within Aviva Canada. This leader will work in collaboration with the Personal Insurance National Fraud Prevention Leader as well as the Claims Fraud teams, to improve our ability to identify, and mitigate, as well as ideally prevent fraud. The Senior Leader will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement, develop and implement operational fraud strategies, and drive continuous process optimization ensuring alignment with Aviva Canada’s Enterprise Fraud Strategy.

What you'll do:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fraud mitigation strategies into overall business operations.
Continuously assess and refine operational policies to adapt to emerging fraud trends and regulatory changes. Creation, Maintenance and Enhancement of Operational Insights.
In line with Enterprise Fraud Strategy, design and implement comprehensive fraud prevention policies and procedures aligned with industry standard methodologies and regulatory requirements.
Supporting Enterprise Fraud Strategy, operationalizing automated fraud referrals.
Reporting on a monthly basis operational performance metrics, and highlighting emerging policy fraud trends and sharing with Enterprise fraud team.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by promoting change management principles and methodologies throughout the operations, working with other fraud areas to share method
Apply systems thinking and other process improvement methodologies to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational effectiveness
Keeping informed about emerging fraud schemes and continuously adapt execution plans to effectively address new trends.
Implement key operational controls relating to Operational Fraud
Provide guidance and support to frontline teams and partners to ensure the operational areas operates at its highest level of efficiency in
Participate in collaboration sessions relating to operational fraud efficiency, regulatory compliance, and key industry forums to influence the mitigation of fraud risks effectively
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, law or other related field or equivalent experience.
Insurance designation (CIP or FCIP) is preferred.
5+ years experience in the insurance Industry
3+ years experience in an insurance fraud related role
Strong Underwriting expertise
Extensive leadership experience (10 yrs +) in insurance business.
Expert knowledge of insurance regulation and statutory conditions, knowing when we can take policy actions.
Solid understanding of methods of planning, developing and administering programs.
Ability to make good decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities and work effectively on multiple communication concurrently.
Strong stakeholder management with the ability to interact confidently at all levels including Senior Management and external partners such as Brokers.
Strong ability to influence and communicate across all areas of the business.
Strong financial and commercial awareness.
Experience of implementing Systems Thinking in complex businesses and embedment of sustainable change.
A strong understanding of Aviva (strategy, structure and personalities) and/or an appreciation of the insurance/financial services market and regulatory framework governing it.
Detailed understanding of internal and external system conditions
Knowledge of products, supporting operational processes and underlying systems.
Fosters a culture of growth and collaboration to drive meaningful improvements.
Project/change management skills.
Ability to build benefit cases.
