Operational Excellence Specialist

The Operational Excellence Specialist will be a driving force behind our commitment to continuous improvement! In this role, you’ll lead the implementation of Operational Excellence (OE) tools and techniques, empowering teams to enhance performance through effective KPIs, 5S methodologies, and visual management. You will help identify key areas for improvement, develop actionable plans, and foster a culture of excellence. You’ll work directly with colleagues at all levels of the organization and coach them in performance strategies. Responsibilities include :

  • Lead implementation of Operational Excellence tools and techniques, support their ongoing use, and quantify their results (e.g., 5S, problem solving, KPIs, Pareto, Manager-in-the-field, visual management)
  • Effectively facilitate problem-solving group sessions
  • Identify or create key performance indicators which measure performance and drive improvement
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them
  • Engage with individuals to promote OE strategies, tactics, and tools
  • Participate in identifying customer needs for site groups
  • Train, implement, and coach the use of performance tools based on encountered problems
  • Provide in-field OE support to teams
  • Continuously improve business flexibility based on customer needs
  • Generate reports and presentations as needed
  • Liaise with various organizational levels
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Assist the OE Manager in developing and overseeing the OE Program
  • Participate in OE planning and decision-making processes

Skills and Qualifications for the position include :

  • Preference given to candidates with Lean or Six Sigma certifications
  • At least 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Production, OE, or consulting
  • An Engineering degree is preferred; a combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS is required for degree holders
  • Familiarity with OE tools (5S, MVP, L6S, etc.)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Minitab, etc.)
  • Strong accountability and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working across departments and engaging with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Results-oriented and adaptable to a dynamic environment

Work Location & Schedule :

  • McClean Lake
  • 14 days in/out rotating schedule
  • Typically 11-hour workdays, with some outside hours required

Fly Day - This position will fly in and out on Wednesdays

Pick-Up Points : Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows, and communities in the Athabasca region including Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

Successful candidates must complete pre-employment checks, including education verification and references. Drug and alcohol testing is required for safety-sensitive roles. Recent recreational marijuana use may affect passing the test.
