Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for an Operations Excellence Co-op Student. The purpose of this position is for the ideal candidate to use his/her technical background to provide support to the ops team in identifying and facilitating operational excellence projects across MAM.

  • Work with Ops team to investigate process improvements including automation by analyzing manufacturing processes and plant layout. Review needs and suggestions with operators, production supervisors, and manager and maintenance personnel.
  • Work with operations excellence and engineering teams to design, identify and implement solutions.
  • Work with operational excellence, planning and engineering teams to document and finalize work instructions for revised / improved processes.
  • Work with operational excellence and production supervisors to plan and facilitate cross functional training to identify and eliminate single points of failures on the shop floor.
  • Write technical reports, maintain open actions log, and communicate confidently to all levels of the business, both by written and verbal means.
  • Track and present key performance indicators for operational, and divisional reviews. Facilitate development of recovery plans as required.
  • Support maintenance department in introduction of a new machine and equipment to ensure timely commissioning of the machine, development of PM program, spare parts list and zero interruption to regular production.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd year co-op student in mechanical, mechatronics, materials metallurgy or industrial engineering
  • Previous Co-op experience in Aerospace Manufacturing is an asset
  • Previous exposure to AS9100 is an asset
  • Highly organized with strongmulti-tasking skills
  • Creative / outside the box thinker
  • Detail oriented
  • Approachable with excellent communication skills
  • Team player, able to manage conflicts
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and provide recommendation with supporting data
  • Proficient in SolidEdge and technical sketching.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
