Alberta Health Services is seeking an Operating Room Technician (LPN) at Chinook Regional Hospital. Your Opportunity:
Please note this is an Operating Room Technician (LPN) position in the surgical suite (OR). Under supervision of the OR Manager and Charge Nurse, you will assume responsibility and accountability for managing patient care as outlined by AHS policies, professional association standards, and ORNAC standards.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures, you will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:
- Post-Graduate Perioperative Certification or completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course.
- Effective communication skills tailored to patient needs and concise communication with physicians.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to safeguard AHS information.
- Assessment skills to recognize and respond to patient status changes.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to critical situations.
- Effective teamwork, time management, problem solving, and conflict management skills.
- Technical skills in scrub and circulating roles in theaters.
- Ability to interpret 3-lead ECG and identify anesthesia complications.
- Flexibility to operate in multiple perioperative roles.
- Proven mentorship skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years recent surgical suite (OR) experience.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Certification of perioperative course.
- Teaching and mentoring skills.
- Basic computer skills in connect care are an asset.
