Job summary

West Parry Sound Health Centre in Ontario is seeking an Operating Room Attendant to support the OR team with safe setup and a clean environment for patients, staff and visitors. Hours cover all shifts, including weekends.

The role requires completing a Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker program, Grade 12, and OR-specific training; two years of OR experience preferred, plus knowledge of medical terminology and equipment.

Qualifications

• Health Care Aide or PSW certification completed.
• Grade 12 or equivalent completed.
• OR Attendant course or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
• Minimum 2 years recent OR experience.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.

About The Opportunity

We are currently looking for an Operating Room Attendant to join our interdisciplinary team of skilled professionals. The Operating Room Attendant assists the Nursing Unit staff with the safe set up of the operating room and maintaining a clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The hours of work are all shifts, including weekends.

More About You

To qualify for the role, you must have completed a Health Care Aide Certification Program or Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized College. You will also need to have:

• Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
• Successful completion of a Health Care Aide Certification Program or Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized college
• Operating Room Attendant Course or willing to obtain within one year of obtaining the position;
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent or current Operating Room experience;
• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology;
• Knowledge of medical and surgical equipment;
• Proven ability at multitasking, prioritization, and organization;
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the positions (frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, and lifting;
• Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, performance levels, disciplinary history and positive work references;
• Proven ability to adhere to safe work practices.
