Job summary

West Parry Sound Health Centre in Parry Sound, Ontario, is seeking a Licensed Cook for a regular part-time role in the Dietary Department. You will prepare patient and cafeteria meals according to meal plans and work a variety of shifts, including weekends.

The organization offers HOOPP, 4% vacation pay and 14% pay in lieu of fringe benefits, EFAP, wellness program and on-site gym. Requires Grade 12 and enrollment in Cook apprenticeship, prior institutional experience, and adherence to food

Qualifications

  • Must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Enrollment in a Cook apprenticeship program with the Ministry.
  • Previous experience in an institutional environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient and cafeteria meals according to meal plans.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of food preparation and service.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Food Services, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation of patient and cafeteria meals according to meal plans provided by the West Parry Sound Health Centre.


The hours of work are all shifts, including weekends.

More About You

You must have successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalent to qualify for the role. You will also need to have:



  • Enrollment in a Cook apprenticeship program with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities;

  • Previous related experience in an institutional environment;

  • A demonstrated ability to perform the duties of a cook;

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills;

  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing education and to the establishment and maintenance of high standards of food preparation;

  • A demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures;

  • Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references;

  • Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibility, Excellence, and Safety.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Successful completion of a Cook’s course and valid Cook’s license.
