Job Overview
Lead and administer the organization, coordination, and execution of assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios. Lead matrix project execution teams. Coordinate and be responsible for project documentation. Ensure appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed.
Job Duties
- Organize, coordinate, and control all stages of project management from initiation to closeout, following Project Management governance.
- Utilize approved project management processes for scope, schedule, cost, risk, and communication management.
- Manage projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets are met.
- Contribute to project background information, scope reviews, business case submissions, and planning documentation.
- Review and accept project charters, initiate scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and risk management plans.
- Develop cost and schedule control structures, gather stakeholder input, and coordinate approvals.
- Define labor requirements, coordinate design clarifications, and participate in procurement processes.
- Lead meetings with designers, suppliers, construction, and operations; monitor and report on project progress and variances.
- Resolve issues to ensure project deliverables, manage scope, schedule, and cost changes.
- Ensure contract management is carried out through all project stages.
- Manage communication with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and agencies; facilitate meetings and project handovers.
- Visit sites and observe manufacturing and installation processes as required.
- Maintain awareness of industry advancements and incorporate best practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Knowledge of project management principles across all phases: Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, Closeout.
- Understanding of economics and business principles for cost estimation and forecasting.
- Typically a 4-year university degree in a relevant field plus post-secondary courses in project management and economics, or equivalent education.
Experience
- Experience in developing project requirements, plans, cost estimates, and managing projects through all phases.
- Managing conflicting priorities and working in heavy industry environments.
- Knowledge of cost accounting, contract management, construction methods, safety standards, and environmental considerations.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
