Job summary

A project staffing solutions provider in Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking an experienced project manager to coordinate all stages of project management, from initiation to closeout. Job description

Job Overview

  • Undertake the organizing, coordinating, and controlling of all stages of project management in accordance with Project Management governance for assigned projects or project packages in all project phases from initiation to closeout, as circumstances require.
  • Utilize approved Project Management processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications and reporting, and risk management.
  • Perform project management activities throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects, ensuring all objectives and commitments are controlled and delivered within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project background information, scope and constructability reviews, Business Case Submissions for approval, and coordinate all project-related information and alternatives for planning.
  • Review, provide input into, and accept project charters; initiate and coordinate scopes of work (WBS), estimates, schedules, risk management plans, project management plans, gate packages, and contract performance specifications.
  • Develop structures for estimating and controlling project costs and schedules; gather input from stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured; coordinate approvals, permits, and licenses; define labor requirements and coordinate design clarifications and changes.
  • Lead meetings with designers, suppliers, and construction teams; maintain liaison with field operations; monitor and report on project progress, costs, schedules, and variances; recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate project plans for risks and develop mitigation strategies; execute other project management functions as per policies.
  • Resolve issues to ensure deliverables are met; manage scope, schedule, and cost changes; oversee Contract Management stages.
  • Manage communication with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and agencies; coordinate meetings; prepare project turnover documentation; address deficiencies.
  • Visit sites, manufacturers, and suppliers; observe manufacturing and construction progress; provide technical input.
  • Stay informed about latest practices, review procedures, and ensure compliance; participate in equipment disposal programs; communicate technological advancements.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of project management principles, especially the 5 phases; understanding of economics and business principles for cost estimation; typically acquired through a 4-year university degree plus related courses or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in developing project requirements, plans, cost estimates, participating in RFPs, managing projects, and project closeout.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Familiarity with equipment and processes in generating stations or similar industries.
  • Skills in problem-solving, guidance, cost accounting, contracting, construction methods, codes, standards, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; team management experience; understanding of environmental concerns; excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in managing complex projects over 6 years, up to 8 years, involving multiple contracts and stakeholders with schedule constraints.
