YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Geology Coordinator, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will be responsible for ensuring good mine geology practices of the team in terms of production sampling, ore zones modeling, blast monitoring, and QAQC practices. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Supervise the grade control team and all related functions
  • Participate in daily meetings to align the Day/Night shift team
  • Ensure daily and short-term planning, KPI reporting, blast optimization
  • Validate databases filled out by the assay lab, prepare and design ore contours, and calculate the tonnes and grades available for mining
  • Attend and participate in various meetings on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Compile daily mill feed grade and tonnes for daily planning meetings
  • Collaborate with Mine Engineering team to validate data (tonnes, grade, and mining direction)
  • Review plans for Weekly (short-term) presentations, provide required information, and conduct follow-ups to ensure the plan is followed
  • Prepare daily mining maps and grades to send to collaborating departments and attend related meetings
  • Conduct BMM designs and monitor results for each blast
  • Collaborate with Drill & Blast team on blast movement, directions, and related blasting techniques
  • Audit compliance with the QA/QC Production Sampling procedure
  • Perform planned inspections of every rotation and send reports to the Health and Safety Department
  • Manage tasks and projects assigned by the Geology Coordinator
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology
  • 3-5 years of experience in Mine Geology, preferably in open pit operations
  • Arctic experience and mining project experience would be assets
  • Proficient in geological software such as Datamine, and Deswik
  • Knowledge of database management principles
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and may cover other travel expenses.
