Job Overview

As a contract employee for approximately 9 months, this role will report to the Head of Project Management. The Project Lead will be part of a team developing energy solutions for large business and institutional customers including electric vehicle charging, battery storage, solar PV, and power generation. This role involves overseeing mechanical and electrical upgrades, such as transformer installations, switchgear upgrades, and integration with existing electrical infrastructure. They will also manage HVAC unit replacements, specifically transitioning from gas-fired to electric heating systems to support sustainability and decarbonization initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Manage projects from conception through to operations, including planning and controls in accordance with Project Management governance.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Support Project Development initiatives as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with commercial and project management frameworks.
  • Deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Follow project controls processes to manage changes in scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Track and report on project performance, status, schedules, and budgets. Support the identification of growth opportunities that maximize client value and align with commercial objectives.
  • Assist the Project Development team in maintaining project requirements and delivering complex projects.
  • Maintain relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with field construction contractors and customer site representatives for successful project execution during construction, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Manage third-party contractors regarding design, schedules, costs, and procurement processes.
  • Develop and review project schedules with clients and teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, maintaining profitability.
  • Review cost variance reports, provide explanations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks and develop strategies to overcome challenges.
  • Maintain close liaison with field operations and construction teams.
  • Visit site locations, manufacturers, and suppliers as needed.
  • Optimize internal processes for efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • University Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering and/or project management.
  • Experience managing electrical projects involving solar, batteries, generation, distribution, or EVs is an asset.
  • Experience overseeing construction site operations, system commissioning, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Technical knowledge of EV charging, battery storage, and electrical equipment.
  • Self-initiated, curious, with a strong interest in electrification.
  • Enjoys collaborating with clients, vendors, and diverse teams.
