Job Overview

  • The Fitness Trainer is a health, exercise and wellness coach responsible for helping clients achieve their goals for physical fitness.
  • Their duties include planning and supervising workout regimens, coaching clients on their form during exercise, and tracking fitness and performance goals over time.
  • The Fitness Trainer will be responsible for being part of Security Officers unarmed to armed initiative.
  • The fitness trainer will develop programming for Security Officers at both Darlington and Pickering sites to prepare them to be successful in the completion of the armed fitness tests.
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented professional with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • The role requires a high degree of discretion, judgement, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create individual exercise plans for security officers that are optimal for each client's specific needs to work toward achieving goals.
  • Demonstrate or explain how to perform various exercises and routines to minimize injuries and improve fitness.
  • Watch clients do exercises to ensure that they are using correct technique.
  • Provide options during workouts to help clients feel successful.
  • Monitor security officers' progress and adapt programs as needed.
  • Keep records to track clients' progress.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to job description.
  • Build and maintain relationships with security officers through deliberate dialogue and interaction.
  • Be visible and approachable while on duty in program and service delivery. Maintain a strong presence and engage in on-floor health education, fitness leadership, and individual coaching.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Related Field Preferred
  • CESP-CPT or CanFitPro-PTS or Personal Training Certificate
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer Literate/Systems Management
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification or ability to successfully acquire
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
  • Build individualized exercise programs
  • Explain exercises in detail and suggest alternatives if needed
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Personal Training is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successfully obtain a Level II Security Clearance as facilitated by our client
