Summer Student Opportunity at Raytheon ELCAN

We have a summer opportunity available for 2 students in Simcoe County that are in the OYAP school program. In this role, as a Summer Student in our Tool Room department, you will be involved in a dedicated project that you will see through to completion geared towards developing your machining skills. You will rotate through three different departments, providing you with valuable exposure to various production areas and basic machining processes. This experience will be instrumental in building your skills and understanding of the manufacturing industry. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with skilled professionals, leverage advanced technologies, and contribute to the success of Raytheon ELCAN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete a project from inception to completion, applying learned machining processes.
  • Rotate through three departments, gaining insights into different manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively while learning new jobs.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completed Grade 11 in June 2025
  • Registered Ontario Youth Apprentice Program (OYAP) in Grade 12
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace.
  • Availability for an early morning schedule.
  • Professional, responsive, and customer-focused
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude

We recognize the importance of providing a great opportunity for students interested in entering the OYAP program. We are committed to providing regular feedback and guidance, assistance in setting learning goals, and a performance review at the end of the summer. This is a paid position.

This position involves technologies regulated by the Canadian government’s Controlled Goods Program and the Contract Security Program. In order to obtain the required security clearance, candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, have resided in Canada for a minimum of five consecutive years, and meet all other program requirements. Job offers will be conditional upon candidates undergoing a successful security screening per the Controlled Goods Regulations and the Contract Security Program.
