We are seeking a forward-thinking leader to oversee the Family Information Liaison Unit for the Ministry and provide support and expertise within the Indigenous Justice Division (IJD). What we do: The Family Information Liaison Unit (FILU) was established to support affected families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG, National Inquiry) access available information about their loved ones from multiple government sources.

The FILU is the “single point” of access to more consistent, reliable and fulsome information related to the loss of loved ones. Family members are referred to the FILU for culturally responsive, trauma-informed and victim-centered assistance in navigating provincial processes. This includes accessing information about police investigations, coroner’s investigations, and crown prosecutions. Additionally, FILU connects family members with cultural advisors, Elders, counselling services and programs, housing, and legal services depending on the family’s needs.

Technical Knowledge and Expertise:

• You have knowledge of the policy and program development, planning and coordination processes.
• You have experience leading, delivering and implementing, large scale, multi-disciplinary and complex policy projects in a fast-paced environment.
• You have experience with strategic planning and operational management, including financial planning, budgeting as well as managing workload and human resources.
• You can plan and manage fiscal and material resources, contract service providers, lead long range fiscal planning and provide regular financial reporting and ensure compliance.
• You have knowledge of project management principles and methodologies to oversee and guide the overall delivery of mandates and strategies.

Strategic Thinking and Political Acuity:

• You demonstrate exceptional judgement, tact, and political acuity to recognize and respond to politically sensitive issues and requests.
• You have strategic foresight to anticipate and recognize emerging trends and issues, prioritize legislative and policy amendments, and develop options, solutions, and recommendations to decision makers.
• You can lead and coordinates strategic program planning, the review of program directions, and the evaluation of evidence based program outcomes.

Relationship Management and Communication:

• You are a skilled communicator and can provide briefings and strategic advice to executives on policy and program initiatives and priorities within a sensitive political environment.
• You have superior presentation and briefing skills and are able to clearly distill and present complex policy issues.
• You have experience facilitating consultations, removing barriers, and gathering input to build consensus with program stakeholders including Indigenous organizations, communities, advocacy and interest groups, agencies and justice sector stakeholders.
