Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Biologist to independently deliver moderately complex ecology assignments across Ontario, supporting environmental approvals and monitoring programs for government, infrastructure, mining, energy, and municipal sectors.

You will shape defensible technical conclusions, align with policy direction, and work on natural heritage projects with field and desk studies, reporting, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or related field; graduate degree asset.
• 2–5 years of ecological consulting, environmental assessment, or related field experience.
• Strong technical writing and scientific reasoning; ability to evaluate evidence and document limitations.
• Experience preparing ecological reports, impact studies, or environmental documents.
• Knowledge of Ontario ecology, natural heritage, and applicable legislation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical reports, memos, and environmental assessments.
• Translate observations and requirements into defensible conclusions and recommendations.
• Design ecological studies with clear objectives and documented rationale.
• Interpret ecological data to assess conditions, effects, and monitoring needs.
• Lead or coordinate ecological surveys across wildlife, wetlands, vegetation, or fish habitat domains.
• Review field data and deliverables for quality before client review.
