Job summary

The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, headquartered in Winnipeg, is seeking a Workplace Safety & Security Coordinator to safeguard employees and sites. This on-site role reports to the Manager, Accessibility & Workplace Safety and involves coordinating access control, safety training, incidents investigations, and vendor partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have a Health & Safety background, at least two years of experience, strong communication, and a collaborative mindset to improve safety

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Health & Safety required.
• Minimum of 2 years of Workplace Safety experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Forms).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including training.
• Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and adapt under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive support to Facilities Operations, including access control audits via monthly reviews and CCTV.
• Facilitate safety training programs for Fire Warden and Persons Requiring Assistance, and conduct drills.
• Coordinate with Facilities Vendors to ensure top service delivery by managers, security, janitorial, and card-access vendors.
• Assist the Manager with administrative tasks across the Health & Safety portfolio.
• Review and investigate incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Attend safety committee meetings and participate in inspections and audits.
• Undertake special projects to enhance workplace safety and security across facilities.
