Job is:
ClassifiedThe primary goal of this position is to assist in teaching the necessary concepts to students in grades 9-12 within the designated subject matter.
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
Provide tutoring as scheduled, with an emphasis on fostering student confidence and curiosity
Post and market availability of tutoring along with schedule
Maintain a consistent schedule as arranged with their supervisor
Meets with students to discuss areas of development and counsels students in the subject area of concern
Monitors student performance in class work, attendance, and discipline as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned
We’ll need you to have the following requirements:
Proficient and demonstrable command of Mathematics up to Algebra II
Proficient computer knowledge and previous experience with Microsoft software
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Prior tutoring experiences are highly desirable
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Location: Remote
*Must reside in California within a 3 hour driving distance of an OFY/OFL school site*
OFY is a free non-profit public charter school serving students grades 7-12 who have fallen behind in school, are looking to get ahead and graduate early, or merely desire a non-traditional learning environment.
OFY’s founders, John and Joan Hall, started the program in 1987 to provide at-risk and underserved students an alternative to traditional learning methods. OFY’s blended learning model allows students, teachers, and families the freedom to design an individualized learning plan for each student based on his or her strengths, weaknesses, college and career goals, and schedule outside of school.
OFY’s program places great emphasis on the student-teacher relationship, a critical component to the development of students’ personal, emotional, and academic well-being.
