Job summary

Empower Tutoring in Canada is seeking a passionate online English tutor to support high school students across Ontario. You will deliver English sessions remotely and adapt lessons to individual needs.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's degree or BEd, fluent in English, with Ontario tutoring experience, access to a webcam and reliable internet, and availability some weeknights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide online English tutoring sessions to Ontario high‑school students using the platform.
• Observe and evaluate a student’s progress and adjust lessons accordingly.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians to create a personal academic plan.
• Assist with homework, concept learning, and staying ahead in class.
• Mentor students and relate to their learning needs.

Job description

We are looking for a passionate, experienced tutor who has a strong background in English and can tutor high school students. Candidates should be familiar with the Ontario high school curriculum. Being able to tutor other high school subjects (i.e. French, Math, Science) is a bonus but not necessary. This position will be completely remote and all tutoring will be done online. Applicants should be currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's Degree in a related field study or your BEd.

Your Role

• Provide online English tutoring sessions through our online learning video platform to high‑school students in Ontario
• Observe and evaluate a student’s skill level to determine progress and work towards improvement with the help of our tutoring program
• Work alongside parents/guardians to create a personal academic plan or timeline for the student
• Help students in their area of need such as homework completion, getting ahead in class, learning new concepts, etc.
• Be able to relate to the students and act as a mentor to them

Requirements

• Fluent in English
• Currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor’s Degree in your field of study or a B.Ed
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience in Ontario is required
• Good knowledge of the Ontario curriculum
• Have access to a computer with a webcam and a stable internet connection
• Be available during some weeknights (past 4 PM) and weekends

Ability to tutor other subjects is a bonus!

Tutoring Sessions

Tutors can create their own schedules based on client preference and personal preference. Tutors can accept and decline tutoring opportunities but should be available to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
