Job summary

Empower Tutoring in Canada is seeking a passionate English tutor for high school students. The role is fully remote and all sessions are conducted online, with a focus on Ontario curriculum standards.

You will provide online English tutoring, assess student progress, and collaborate with parents to create personal academic plans. Prior tutoring experience in Ontario and a Bachelor’s degree or B.Ed are required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English.
• Bachelor’s Degree or B.Ed in related field.
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience in Ontario required.
• Good knowledge of the Ontario curriculum.
• Access to a computer with a webcam and stable internet.
• Available during some weeknights after 4 PM and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide online English tutoring sessions through our platform to high school students in Ontario.
• Observe and evaluate a student’s skill level to determine progress and work towards improvement with the tutoring program.
• Work alongside parents/guardians to create a personal academic plan or timeline for the student.
• Help students in their area of need such as homework completion, getting ahead in class, learning new concepts, etc.
• Be able to relate to the students and act as a mentor to them.

Job description

We are looking for a passionate, experienced tutor who has a strong background in English and can tutor high school students. Candidates should be familiar with the Ontario high school curriculum. Being able to tutor other high school subjects (i.e. French, Math, Science) is a bonus but not necessary. This position will be completely remote and all tutoring will be done online. Applicants should be currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's Degree in a related field study or your BEd.

Your Role

• Provide online English tutoring sessions through our online learning video platform to high‑school students in Ontario
• Observe and evaluate a student’s skill level to determine progress and work towards improvement with the help of our tutoring program

Requirements

Tutoring Sessions

Tutors can create their own schedules based on client preference and personal preference. Tutors can accept and decline tutoring opportunities but should be available to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
