Compensation : 7,500 CAD

Nipissing University is seeking an Online Course Content Author to serve as a subject matter expert in the creation, conversion, or maintenance of an online course within the School of Nursing.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a course development team, including at minimum an Instructional Designer and a Course Production Technician, as well as staff and faculty in the School of Nursing, to deliver content according to established milestones and the Nipissing Online Course Development Process. This role requires the ability to work independently and remotely, with strong communication and organizational skills.

This is a contract-based opportunity. Specific course details and timelines will be provided at the time of engagement.

Qualifications :

  • The author must hold a Master's or PhD in Nursing, with a PhD preferred.
  • Licence to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) without restrictions in Canada.
  • Recent clinical expertise relevant to the course.
  • Experience in online course development within higher education, coupled with a strong background in evidence-based practice, research methodologies, and knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system.
  • The ability to integrate innovative teaching strategies and culturally competent content.
  • Knowledge of concept-based curriculum.

Development of Pre-Packaged Courses in the School of Nursing :

The following courses are part of the pre-packaged curriculum:

  • NSGD 4777 - Leadership in Action: A 3-credit course focusing on leadership development, nursing leadership and management skills, and political action strategies.
  • NSGD 3336 – Culture and Nursing Practice: A 3-credit course examining the influence of culture on client-centered care and nursing practice.
  • NSGD 4137 - Complex Health Challenges: A 3-credit course on caring for individuals and communities facing complex health issues, emphasizing clinical judgment and holistic care.
  • NSGD 4006 – Nursing Informatics: A 3-credit course on the use of information technology in nursing practice, education, and research.
  • NSGD 4266 - Advanced Topics in Leadership & Management: A 3-credit course exploring advanced leadership concepts and RN roles in management.
  • NSGD 4286 - Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics: A 3-credit course on pharmacological treatment principles and disease management.
  • NSGD 4276 - Health Workplace Environments: A 3-credit course on promoting healthy work environments and leadership practices.
  • NSGD 3116 - Concepts in Family and Community Health: A 3-credit course focusing on family and reproductive health concepts throughout the lifespan.
