AbbVie Canada is hiring an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist to join our commercial sales team, preferably based in Toronto Center or Ottawa, covering Toronto Center and Eastern Ontario. The role will focus on Oncologists treating Solid Tumors.

The Oncology Therapeutic Specialist develops business plans to execute brand strategies, deliver sales performance, and build strong customer relationships. They support customer needs to maximize sales, always prioritizing patient care and operating within AbbVie's policies, laws, and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets, brand KPIs, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed business goals.
  • Create pre-call plans, execute post-call evaluations, and handle objections effectively to close sales.
  • Support key stakeholders' needs and expectations to build trusted partnerships.
  • Implement regional account plans to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Understand customer needs, market landscape, patient journey, competitors, and clinical insights; share intelligence with team members to align strategies.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition and develop disease state experts and advocates to enhance brand performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Specialty Sales role within the pharmaceutical industry, with oncology experience, particularly in Solid Tumors, preferred.
  • Deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge in oncology and the Canadian Oncology sector.
  • Experience in physician/account-based selling, medical education, or marketing is preferred.
  • Strong sales record, presentation skills, and ability to adapt selling approach based on customer behavior.
  • Recognized as an expert in oncology products and competitive landscape.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and proficiency with business tools.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment and build collaborative relationships.
  • Proven leadership and success in roles with increased responsibility.

Essential skills & abilities:

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable with technology and various tools/systems.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel overnight (~20-30%), including air travel.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

  • Strategic thinking for territory and account planning.
  • Sound business judgment with an executive mindset.
  • Strong analytical skills for data assessment and decision-making.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for team development and account maximization.
