AbbVie Canada is seeking an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist to join our commercial sales team, ideally based in Toronto Center or Ottawa, covering Toronto Center and Eastern Ontario. The role focuses on Oncologists treating Solid Tumors.

The Oncology Therapeutic Specialist will develop business plans to implement brand strategies, deliver sales and build strong customer relationships. They will support customer needs to maximize sales performance, always placing the patient at the center, and operating within AbbVie's business conduct, policies, laws, and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Achieve sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
  2. Create pre-call plans and evaluate post-call to improve sales; handle objections logically to close sales.
  3. Support key stakeholders’ needs to build trusted relationships and partnerships.
  4. Execute regional account plans to meet metrics and maximize sales opportunities.
  5. Understand customer needs, market landscape, patient journey, competitors, and share insights to align strategies.
  6. Differentiate AbbVie’s value with healthcare providers and develop disease state experts and advocates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Specialty Sales role within the pharmaceutical industry, with oncology experience required, solid tumors preferred.
  • Deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge in oncology and the Canadian oncology sector.
  • Experience in physician/account-based selling, medical, managed healthcare, or marketing preferred.
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt sales approach based on customer behavior.
  • Recognized as an expert in oncology products and competitive landscape.
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment and offer innovative solutions.
  • Credibility and respect among peers; experience in leadership roles.
  • Ability to leverage data for developing sales strategies.

Essential skills & abilities:

  • English proficiency (oral and written).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Comfort with technology and various tools/systems.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel (20-30% overnight travel, air travel expected).
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

  • Strategic thinking for territory and account planning.
  • Sound business judgment and market assessment skills.
  • Analytical skills for data assessment and decision-making.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
