AbbVie's Canada division is seeking to hire an Oncology Therapeutic Specialist to join our commercial sales team. Preferably based in Alberta or Vancouver, this role will cover British Columbia and Alberta. The focus will be on Oncologists treating Solid Tumors.

The Oncology Therapeutic Specialist will develop robust business plans to execute brand strategies and tactics in the field, deliver sales performance, and build strong customer relationships. They will support customer needs to maximize both short- and long-term sales, always placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie's business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities :

  • Deliver sales performance, meet or exceed KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans and execute post-call evaluations to improve sales performance, handling objections and concerns effectively.
  • Support key stakeholders' needs and expectations, building trusted relationships and partnerships.
  • Execute regional account plans to achieve set metrics and optimize coverage of key customers.
  • Understand customer needs, territory landscape, patient journey, competitors, market segments, and clinical expertise; share insights with relevant teams to align strategies.
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition, develop disease state experts, and maximize brand performance.

Qualifications :

Education / Experience Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a Specialty Sales role within the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong clinical background. Oncology experience, especially in Solid Tumors, is preferred.

Deep scientific and therapeutic knowledge in oncology and the Canadian Oncology sector is required. Experience in physician/account-based selling, medical education, managed healthcare, or marketing is preferred. Key account management skills, proven sales success, strong presentation skills, and the ability to adapt sales approaches are essential. Recognized expertise in oncology products and knowledge of the competitive landscape are important. Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment are required. The candidate should be innovative, credible, and able to build collaborative relationships. Leadership experience and the ability to leverage findings to improve sales strategies are also valued.

Essential skills & abilities :

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable with technology and various tools/systems.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel overnight (~20-30%), including air travel.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.
